The loss of eyesight caused by glaucoma cannot be cured with any therapy, so it is most important to ensure early diagnosis and prevent injury of the optic nerve. Generally, glaucoma cannot be cured completely but can only be controlled. As such, this disease is not a temporary problem but one that requires continuous therapy and lifetime observation once diagnosed.
