 The Division of Infectious Diseases deals with infectious diseases of the entire body. We provide both inpatient and outpatient clinical services related to microorganism-induced infectious diseases. Our services are centered on the prevention and treatment of organic infectious diseases including respiratory infection, gastrointestinal infection, urinary tract infection, central nervous systemic infection, endocarditis, osteomyelitis, cervical lymphadenitis, skin and soft tissue infections as well as sepsis, an opportunistic infection that often occurs after organic transplants or HIV infections, and other infectious diseases such as Tsutsugamushi disease and malaria. Fever of unknown origin is another disease entity on which the division focuses its attention. We also offer consultation to patients who want to travel abroad and provide the proper medical information and prophylaxis for infectious diseases.
One of our major jobs consists of offering consultations for patients with fever and other infectious diseases, and the use of antibiotics in other departments. Our activities focus on ensuring the appropriate use of antibiotics, and the prevention and control of nosocomial infection. In cooperation with the Infection Control Office, the department is involved in nosocomial infection surveillance and manages and prevents nosocomial infections on the basis of that surveillance, and educates health care workers on the prevention of nosocomial infections. |
