The faculty members consist of 3 professors, 1 associate professor, 1 assistant professor and 1 clinical fellow. In 2006, about 30,000 outpatients were treated and about 660 surgical procedures were performed. We have six special clinics: the Cerebrovascular Disease Clinic, Moyamoya Disease Clinic, Spine and Peripheral Nerve Clinic, Neuro-Trauma Clinic, Brain Tumor Clinic, and Pediatric Neurosurgery Clinic. Detailed information about the clinics will be given in a later section.
Our team of neurosurgeons provides thorough evaluations, diagnoses, and treatments for cerebral, spinal, and peripheral nerve diseases and disorders in adults and children. Patients and their families are eager to learn about neurological disease, to identify an appropriate doctor for its management, to understand the available treatments, and to prepare for any lifestyle changes that may be necessary. Each patient is treated as a unique individual, as physical, psychological, and philosophical differences may affect the treatment choices. We encourage patients to discuss these factors and any other concerns with us. Open, frank communication is essential to effective medical care.
Our facilities include the most technologically-advanced equipment (modern surgical microscopes, state-of-the-art monitoring techniques), improving patient outcomes by reducing operative complications. We are the only center in the northern Gyeonggi province to have equipped itself with a "Cyber Knife" radiosurgery device, capable of performing totally non-invasive brain and spinal surgery.
Our physicians are all leaders in their respective fields, pioneering advances in brain, spinal, and peripheral nerve care. Treatment is provided through our centers of excellence, each focusing on a specific disease and treatment technique.
Every year we produce numerous SCI papers: in 2005 and 2006, we published 12 papers in international journals.
We perform unique, federally funded research into methods for improving clinical outcomes; we continually develop new tools and techniques to improve the status of patients with potentially life-threatening illnesses. We are also conducting five ongoing research projects.
We provide the most advanced training to future neurosurgeons in Korea. We have deep compassion for the patients we treat and for the families who care for them. We are fortunate in having excellent facilities and the most technologically advanced equipment in Korea to help us treat neurological diseases. |
