Introduction
Volunteers are people who perform or offer to perform a service voluntarily, without expecting or receiving compensation for it. As people desirous to serve the community out of a sense of solidarity, our volunteers value responsibility, mutual understanding, respect
and interest, and patience.
How to Enroll to St. Mary's Volunteer Program
Interview: Candidates meet with the program coordinator for an interview, then fill out a volunteer application form (3 photos required).
Once a candidate's application is approved, he or she is assigned to serve on a specific day of the week and introduced to the leader of the team and the members.
Trainee volunteers: Volunteers newly joining the team spend the first three months (12 weeks) acquiring hands-on experience. Under a designated mentor, trainee volunteers try out volunteer
activities in the different sections making up the program.
At the end of the training period, new volunteers will attend courses offered by the Volunteer Service Dept. and be formally admitted to the program as official members.
Courses to acquire basic knowledge and skills: The medical center offers a training program
to equip new volunteer team members with essential basic knowledge and skills.
Becoming a Fully-fledged volunteer team member: New volunteers are finally assigned to a section
of the program, where they can continue their learning in a more in-depth manner.
